Who Benefits?

Karen Carty•1 month ago Who benefits from this? I have a feeling it isn't the citizens of the City. Why don't these companies build these centers in the middle of unused land, far from Cities and towns? I get the feeling there is money changing hands at the expense of the rest of us.

No More Data Centers in the City

Karen Carty•8 months ago I have concerns about power and water availability and how a facility with large requirements will affect the rest of us. They will be using our other facilities (roads, sewers, fire, police) while bring little commerce to the area. I hope no one is contemplating tax incentives. How many employees will be added? Will they be producing their own power (solar, wind)? Will all of this water used for cooling be recycled? How will that be done?Too many questions.

Invest this Money

Karen Carty•3 years ago This money should be invested in an interest bearing account. Then we need a 10-20 year plan for City improvements including most of the items proposed on this forum. Prioritizing them should be the key. The annual budget should be tied to the proceeds from the investments.

Solve the Homeless Problem

Karen Carty•3 years ago I'm surprised there aren't more ideas for the homeless but there are many suggestions that have value. More tiny houses. An dedicated improved area (lighting, electricity, water, toilet facilities and showers, a police substation, picnic tables) where homeless can set up their tents, lockers where they can leave their stuff and public phones. It should be available to anyone who has nowhere to go. There are multiple charities that want to provide meals. Let them. Subsidize them. Put a stop to outlying areas leaving their homeless in the City. I know it happens because I've seen vans unloading people. Some of them even come from Illinois. It puts an unnecessary burden on City dwellers. That will require a small staff of people to monitor the activity. All shelters (including Larry Rice) must provide 24 hour availability. The fact that people are turned out in the morning and cannot return until evening leaves them with no where to go. The result is a nuisance to people living and working near the shelters. During excessive cold weather make indoor facilities readily available. I understand there are public buildings that could be turned into emergency shelters with heat and water.
