More Policing of Speeders

From "Ideas Portal"

Go to the project

There, are thoroughfares in South St. Louis where speeding is rampant, especially by trickriders on motorcycles and motorbikes, as well as racing cars. So many accidents, and no police oversight like we had prior to 2020. We need more traffic control, and more police, which would also help curb local crime.

We are short 300 cops right now, mostly due to non-competitive pay for new officers. This is the toughest job in the area and pays well below average. The defund the police movement set us back years. We need to correct that foolishness, put a lot more money into salaries for new officers and fill our ranks.

It this point we don't need to throw more money in policing. We need enforcement.

We are down hundreds of police officers, hire and train more immediately and start handing out tickets!

I’ve been calling this place home for a few years now, but please tell me… is there a law here that says stop signs and stoplights are “optional”? I drive all over the city all day long for a living and I can tell you that this is a problem. How about not only policing of speeders, but refocusing on policing basic laws such as stopping at stops. Crazy, right? Stop signs and lights are for driver and pedestrian safety, and they need to be enforced somehow.

Not in the CIty, but in FLorissant, but I work at home, over 1/2 mile from Shackelford, and can hear cars and motorcycles speeding all day long. It's everywhere and more needs to be done.
