We now have an opportunity to correct inaction that will result in long-term positive change for the city. First is to develop and implement a dual track approach to address the woeful 911 system..first would be to allocate a sizeable chunk of the settlement to hiring experienced 911 operators to immediately bolster our system...second is to increase the pay of current 911 operators.. simultaneously increase our bench hiring trainers and assimilate when ready. This approach will alleviate stress from within and from the public.

Most definitely upgrade 911. I would like to add a recruiting strategy that may stimulate population growth. Offer a housing bonus - a stabilized LRA brick unit, with a water meter, and a one time grant of $40,000 to work on the interior. As good neighbors people that live and work in our neighborhoods, on our blocks, tend to pick up trash, respect sound levels and offer support when needed because this is their home.

This is absolutely needed as the current "service" is unacceptable. We need to know that when we have an emergency, we have highly trained, well paid dispatchers and EMS.

We moved back to St Louis in 2020 after living in Houston for 30 plus yrs. We are dumbfounded that the St Louis 911 system has been dysfunctional for over 3yrs?

While I am in favor of this, I think that we need to make this a priority with or without special funding from the Rams Settlement. It needs to be an ongoing priority for city funds from the regular funds.

@Suzanne Chisum Suzanne although the posed question focuses on the Ram's settlement STL is uniquely financially equipped to deal with this longstanding festering issue.
